That's Coat-tastic!

It’s getting cold again and that means it is time to wear a coat! Whoo Hoo!

We love coats in this little yellow house. One of my favorite Michael stories is how when he got a new coat (a vintage wool Belgian Army coat) he would wear it around the basement because it wasn’t really cold enough to wear outside. Now that is a man who loves a coat!

We both have several coats and love them all. Unfortunately I can’t close any of my coats over my baby belly any longer.

Good side – I get to buy a new coat!
Bad side – I have to spend money to buy a new coat!

There is a cute maternity coat at Old Navy (http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=26258&pid=616670) that I would like to pick up with weekend. I just have to find an actual store with a Maternity section. Sizing is all crazy right now. There is one in Olathe, but that means driving out there and I may be too lazy to do that...

It stated out innocently as I tried to find a recipe from Everyday Foods, then I looked at her helpful tips on babies, now I'm checking out the website all the time for new finds.
Not that anything I do even comes close to MS, but it is fun to look at.

Or how I was sitting in a chair talking to Michael when IT BROKE! (Way to make the preggo girl feel like a big, fat cow.)

Applefest

We headed out to Westin with a few friends this weekend for Applefest. It was a fun day in a charming little town but it did leave me with a few questions:

• Where were all the apples? There was one vendor selling apple dumpling and that was it for apples. I expected cider and candy apples on sticks and carmel apples, etc. Instead it was mainly craft vendors who sold things I did not need.
• Why and how do people poop in portable toilets. I have trouble peeing in them. But since I'm pregnant and so is the friend I went with we had to use the port-a-pot quite frequently. And there was ALWAYS a big poop in there. Who has to go that badly? And if you do - toss some extra toilet paper over it so everyone doesn't have to check out your leavings.
• Could I really live in a small town? I think the answer is no, but every time I visit I think it would be great to live there.

Oh, to suppliment the lack of apples at "apple"fest I picked up a bottle of Simply Apple at the grocery store. It is quite possibly the best apple juice - EVER.

I've recently joined paperbackswap.com. I love it. It is such a treat to get a new book in the mail - and fun posting my books to others, knowing they will read and enjoy them. I just finished the first book that arrived. Aunt Dimity's Death - the first in the cozy mystery series I love so much but could only find books 3-8 at the library. Finally reading book one was a joy and answered so many questions.

Impossible to decide

I don't think any one musician has had a bigger impact on my life than Harry Chapin. He's my Bruce Springsteen - only I can't see him live because tragically he died 3 days before I was born. So many of my favorite memories have him singing in the background. My family singing off key to his records. I just discovered videos of his concerts on YouTube but I can't decide which ones to post, so here is the first of many I'm sure.

So let's start with Mail Order Annie. Nothing like a ballad about a mail order bride arriving on the Dakota plains to start the weekend off right.

From the soundtrack to Into the Wild. I think I ranted about that movie earlier. Basically I was just so mad at the main character for being an idiot. So stupid! Grr!! If you watch the whole video it pretty much shows you the whole movie except for the ending when he starve to death because he's an idiot! Clearly I'm still pissed at him.

But that is not the point - the point is I love the song "Hard Sun" and Eddie Vedder has just the right voice for it.

It's no secret that I love the show How I Met Your Mother. I think it is hilarious, smart, plus occasionally there are 80's like music videos from Canada that just make me laugh so much. Watch the show and love it. Everyone I know who has watched it has loved it.
