Peanut Allergies on HIMYM

FINALLY someone smart and pretty has peanut allergies on a TV show.
Last night it was revealed that Stella has a peanut allergy! Whoo Hoo! I was getting so tired of it only being awkward guys.

Gender Identity in Children

I'm listening to a really interesting series of stories on NPR about gender identity in children.
In two parts they talk about 3 boys who from a very young (we are talking 2-3) KNOWING they were girls and how their parents deal with it.
It is a really interesting phenomenon.

Reasons why I love Michael

He comes up with things like this:

• Wednesdays are the unflavored rice cakes of the week.
• All the other days never invite Wednesday to parties, Wedensday would just moap around with nothing witty to say.
• Wednesday watches the weather channel a lot.
• Wednesday drives a pre-owned 1996 Nissan Sentra, Tan, AM/FM radio, no options.
• Wednesday's favorite meal is spaghetti with no sauce.

My additions:

• Wednesdays think watching grass grow qualifies as a sport.
• Wednesday wishes he was Monday - because at least Mondays have something to complain about and Wednesday doesn't even have that.

So we've had a gas range for over 2 years and I just realized that I can have camping quality roasty-toasty marshmallows any time I want!

The Early Show

I was up this morning at 3:30am in order to meet a group of volunteer to promote the Walk for PKD at a taping of the CBS Early Show. While you can't see me in this clip you can see other teal wearing, PKD fighting, super awesome people (I was in the back with Katie holding a sign).

It was a very early morning, but great because we helped to spread the word about PKD! Speaking of PKD, now is the time to sign up for the Walk for PKD! Support me in my efforts or sign-up in your area. Beware a whole "Why I Walk" post is just around the corner!

once upon a mattress

We went out mattress shopping today and much to my surprise and delight we bought one. And not just the cheap one either. We really ended up getting a really great mattress - not the $4000.00 Tempur-Pedic, but the next best thing - A Sealy Passageway. Unfortunately there isn't much inf on the web about this particular mattress. But let me tell you Michael exact words were "it's like laying on clouds. CLOUDS." But really firm clouds that have a high back support rating. We came home from our insane trip out to NFM and took a nap on our sucky old mattress.
The new cloud like mattress arrives tomorrow morning and I plan to lay around in it all day!

jumping on the bandwagon

Oh Cesar Milan, where have you been all my life? Or at least all of Tallulah's life?
Last week after Tallulah embarrassed me with her behavior at PetSmart and the parade, I decided to seek help...from the Dog Whisperer DVD's. And Whoa Nelly, one DVD into it and already she is a more balanced dog. To be honest it is not her, but us. Our energy around her is changing abe therefore her energy with us is changing. We are working on walking together on the leash. We picked up a choke chain and it is really helping to get her attention before she freaks out a whatever crosses our path.
Clearly I am jumping on the Dog Whisperer bandwagon, and so far so good!

looking back at my future

Tonight I went to see the play "Leaving Iowa" at the American Heartland Theatre with my parents and Michael's mom. It was sweet and funny and reminded me of what's in store for me and our future off-spring. ROAD TRIPS! Most likely boring road trips with screaming children and Michael just happy to be on the road.

Products I Love: Timex Clock Radio

I thought I would start a new blog section called "Products I Love". These will be things I think are really cool/handy/just generally nice to have around. Here to start things off is the:
Timex MP3 Line-In Dual Alarm Clock

I really like this clock. You can change the color of the LED screen and you can dim it so it isn't so glaringly bright at night. The sound quality is nice, the alarm is easy to set with the bonus of being able to set the alarm to go off 7 days a week, 5 days or just 2 days a week. It shows the date and day of the week on the screen which I find very helpful. The best part is the you can connect your ipod to it to use as a speaker. The only downside to that is that you cannot use the ipod as the alarm and you have to be sure to switch the setting back from AUX to FM in order for the alarm to wake you in the morning.
I bought one on Thursday for myself, on Friday I picked one up for Michael (so we have matcing clocks) and on Saturday I ran out and got one for our friend Scott. If you've got a birthday coming up I might be getting one for you too.
