Seriously, who?
Dancing Queen, Voulez-Vous, Waterloo? Classics! Plus any song that you can dance to like and idiot is awesome in my book. We saw Mamma Mia! for my birthday yesterday and I loved it - with two exceptions.
1) I think Meryl Streep was a bit old for the part
2) Peirce Brosan can not sing. Tricia and I actually cringed when we realized there was a second verse to his song. YIKES!
So I have just purchased the Broadway soundtrack instead. That was I get all the songs (plus some) and I never have to here PB sing again! Well until the winter when I buy the DVD.

The Shop Around the Corner
As a general rule I don't like James Stewart, I know I know, I'm sorry. But I don't. I don't like It's a Wonderful Life. I find his speech patterns annoying, and I've never found him to be particularly attractive.
Until tonight.
I just watched The Shop Around the Corner (aka, the movie that later became You've Got Mail) and now I have a bit of a crush on Jimmy. He was so endearing and charming. And I could see why so many people like him.
So thank-you Shop Around the Corner for changing my mind about Mr. Stewart.

Blackpool - Greatest Show EVER
Holy crud! Police investigations, choreographed sining and dancing AND the Hot, Hot David Tennant!
Seriously I think I have found the best show ever...too bad I can only find it on You Tube because its not on DVD yet. Sigh.
One more because I can't resist!

knocked up
We went to see Knocked Up tonight. It made me laugh, cringe and feel really good about not having babies for a while. Seriously, birth does not look like fun.
The two office babies came to visit today. Baby #1 is finally filling out, opening her eyes and not freaking me out so much. Baby #2 was still all tiny and curled up. Little babies scare me. I don't like to hold them, I only like to pet there sweet little arms and cheeks. Baby #1's 2 year old brother came along too. That an age I can get behind. At 2 they are little people. They can tell you what they want, they play, you don't have to worry about breaking them. We played, I hung him upside down and did big jumps with him. I realize that 2 year olds run around and are demanding and that little babies really just lay there, but at this point in my life I'll take a 2 year old over a 2 month old any day.
Clearly, I'm not ready for a baby quite yet.

Secrets
I don't like secrets. I hate them in fact. I like mystery novels, but I like to read the last three chapters not first, but about half way through when it starts to get suspenseful. I find it reassuring. Then I go back and finish reading from where I left on until the end.
The lead up to when Michael proposed was terrible! I was a horrible sneak and found the receipt for the ring but not the ring itself. And I found the receipt MONTHS before hand. It was terrible! Luckily or unluckily Michael knows me and my loathing of secrets and snooping tendencies so he hid the ring very well. Hopefully this will be the last time he keeps secrets from me!
Also do to my dislike of secrets I enjoy puzzles. I like to figure things out. Tonight when we watched The Prestige I was figuring things out, taking mental notes and trying to figure it out. So the end didn't really come as a surprise (parts of it did, but not the end) in fact I so knew what was going on that I left the room because there was no need for the clear showing of the answer. I assumed that Micheal knew it too. His "Ooohhh" proved otherwise. He watches movies with such a willing suspension of disbelief, just going along with the story...enjoying it...that he doesn't puzzle it out. He lets them keep their secrets. Something I can never do.
I kind of envy his lack of secret fear...
...he always waits till the end to read the last chapters of the book...

When you find yourself in your sun-porch covered in blue paint and dancing your heart out you know it has been a good day.
A Very Good Day.
We painted our previously dark beige sun-porch a vibrant blue today. It looks good, but will take some getting used to. Once we pull up the beige carpet and replace it with slate tile it will look fantastic. We also planted the pots on the front porch and had lunch with Michael's family. All of these things are great and make a good day, but finding your The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert soundtrack takes the day to a whole new level!
I had forgotten how much I love those disco classics! You have to smile when Shake Your Groove Thing starts, and who doesn't love Momma Mia? So there I was singing and dancing, dripping blue paint and just having a best time. Even Michael seemed to have a good time.
It took me back to Jr. year when we did The Boys Next Door and painted sets and just had the most wonderful friends. Feather boas, and not giving a damn what anyone thinks, just having fun. Pure Joy.

Little Miss Sunshine
So good!
Steve Carell is great and this just strengthens my love for Toni Collette.
You, know I was once a pageant winner.
True!
Little Miss Liberty 1980 something. I think it was 84 or 85.
I was way cute, and totally kicked some pageant butt!
My first, last and only pageant.
But I went out on top, baby!
